Maintenance for Tier 4 (General) Students Logo Maintenance for Tier 4 (General) Students

Given that the majority of Tier 4 sponsors in the Independent School sector rarely sponsor a Tier 4 General student (usually when a student over the age of 18 switches sponsor mid-course), this change will have little to no effect for most of our clients. However, it comes as a welcome modification to the already complicated rules surrounding the financial maintenance requirements.
Previously, a Tier 4 General student was required to demonstrate at least £9,135 (outside London) or £11,385 (inside London) nominal maintenance, regardless of whether the student was a full-time boarder or not. From 11th January 2018, this is no longer required. In short; Tier 4 General students will no longer need to demonstrate maintenance requirement, provided they are a full-time boarder.
Hoorah for fewer bank statements!
